Gaiety

It is natural for an artist to put expression to the stories that tradition has brought along. We bring to you this artwork which speaks of a quality that may have been, of the Budhha, and still it seems not his.
The roundness of Budhha’s eye brows in the artwork seems to speak of the frankness with which he would have met life. The absence of boundaries in relationships. While he looks calm and serene, there is a deep feeling of gaiety that is evident on his face, which is to laugh, to take delight in anything or nothing, and to know the joy of living without a shadow of fear.

A part of his demeanour shown in the mural doesn’t seem to be a peculiarity of the Budhha himself, but something much beyond. That quality of otherness which he may have had but didn’t have the urge to possess.
